Every time someone "likes" or "repins" or "retweets" any joke that uses the word "r-tard," my heart breaks a little.

I don't think insulting my daughter is worth a five second laugh.

Some people use the word "r-tard" in a mean way, intentionally.  Those people are just jerks.

But a whole lot of people, otherwise smart people, mature people, wise people, have a lapse and use the word "r-tard" to describe anything that they deem sub-par in a moment: their friends, themselves, their toaster, their car, the government, public figures, etc.

You hurt me and you hurt Ellie when you use that word.

Stop.

Please.

It's my annual plea for "Spread the Word to End the Word."
