Last night, I spent some time with my friend Christina, working on this blog. If you're looking for a great summer vacation, check out Ruth's Retreat in Grand Haven, Michigan. (This is not a paid post. Just in love with the photos of my friend's house!)
Today we had some unseasonably warm weather, so we tried to go for a hike right after running errands. Poor decision with a sleepy Ellie in tow. Since Ellie fell asleep at our last stop, we took a quick break at home, then headed out in the late afternoon to enjoy the day.

The walking is improving but still not independent. |
She's at such a fun and challenging age. Earlier in the week, Ellie woke up at 4:30 am demanding "cookie." We said no. Her face would have been heartbreaking, if she was sad about something else. No sympathy for the cookie. Then she tried asking for "crackers," "cheese," "apple," and "eat peeeese!" (please) before she gave up.
I was finishing up this post downstairs while Matt put Ellie in her room alone for one minute. I came up to free her and was surprised that she cried when I came in, because I interrupted her drawer emptying. If you have a toddler, would you please post a comment letting me know we're not alone in this crazy stage?
You're definitely not alone...my twin boys are in everything! =)
ReplyDeleteDeifnitely not alone, but I think we have a lot more coming our way! Those are some of Hailey's favorite foods, too. Hailey asked for cheese and crackers in church tonight. Hailey's walking is getting better everyday, but it still isn't independent. We try to not leave Hailey alone long.....she can empty 3 cabinets in less than a minute! As always, love the pics of Ellie! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhen I have questioned the 'craziness' of certain ages and stages, My dad would always say 'The age of reason is 7". Now that my oldest is 7 I see that he is right. Toddlers are completely irrational, we must love them as they are! As quickly as they are mad about one thing, they are happy about another. The first time my oldest threw a 'real' tantrum that lasted about 20 minutes and I had to wrangle her squiggling form into her carseat, I thought she was sick or in pain and that I should take her to the doctor she was screaming and kicking so much, called my best friend and she said no that's just a temper tantrum, get used to it!!!!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! EVERY TIME I TURN AROUND Jake has emptied a new drawer, cupboard, or laundry basket (and he does not distinguish between dirty clothes, and clean-already-folded-ready-to-be-put-away clothes!) I feel your pain:)
