Ellie has a new elf friend who visits daily. While we aren't really doing the whole "Elf spying for Santa" thing, and we certainly don't have a lot of "no touch" rules, Ellie's elf has been showing up to spread Christmas cheer.
And no, he doesn't have a name yet, but Ellie might be open to suggestions.
Tree for Ellie.
Our Christmas tree has been up for less than 24 hours when Ellie started attacking. I wrapped some presents to block the base of the tree, but she could still get to some ornaments. I remembered a brilliant Pinterest idea, and in about 3 minutes, I had a felt tree for Ellie. Winner. "My-tee!" is made of glued together pieces of green felt, cut into a tree shape with a star glued on top, and attached to the wall via command hook velcro. The ornaments are also felt, so Ellie can take them off and put them on over and over (and over and over) again.

Getaway.
Celebrating three years of marriage, Matt and I escaped without Ellie to go to dinner, stay at a B&B, and visit a winery. Ellie's Kelly babysat overnight, and I slept past five o'clock in the morning. Also, the weather was something like 40 degrees and really windy, so I didn't get my camera out too much. The winery was beautiful, but the weather just didn't seem conducive to wandering among the grapes and snapping photos, so we sat inside by the fire instead. Our first Ellie-free getaway was a success!
I saw this tree on Pinterest this week. After watching Hailey, attack the other decorations, I think I'm making one, too!
ReplyDeleteYay for your getaway. Still fantasizing about that! Love the tree idea. We are planning to put our tree in a corner blocked by an intersecting couch and chair for Cora-proofing. We'll see how it works after we get ours tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteLove the tree idea! I'm going to make one too. I can't keep Kennedy away from the decorations!
